Space Sensing


Space Sensing is the program executive office within Space Systems Command (SSC) that is responsible for delivering space-based missile warning, tracking, and defense;  space-based environmental monitoring; and other strategic and tactical sensing capabilities that directly enable the warfighter to deter, defend, and win.

Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking | Nuclear Detection 
 
• Continuing successful fielding of Future Operationally Resilient Ground Evolution (FORGE) ground system to enable current and future MWT capabilities.
 
• Fielding Next-Gen Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) systems to replace the aging Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) constellation and provide advanced resiliency against threats.
 
• Delivering Resilient MWT Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) space and ground capabilities to meet USSF force design for warning/tracking evolving hypersonic threats.

• Developing, acquiring, fielding and sustaining next generation space-based environmental monitoring capabilities that provide global, persistent and timely battlespace awareness data to protect national assets and enable warfighter operations.
 
• Fielding modernized capabilities that build upon the proven success of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program to ensure continuity for critical weather-dependent missions while integrating next-generation technology to meet future threats.
