Colorado Springs, Colo. – The Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Infrastructure has awarded contracts for the National Space Test and Training Complex (NSTTC) Innovative Technology & Engineering – Space Test and Range (NITE-STAR) Capability Development Multiple Award (MA) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ), with a contract ceiling valued at $981 million investment over two five-year periods. This IDIQ establishes an acquisition vehicle for developing advanced test and training capabilities, ensuring Guardians are prepared for engagements against peer adversaries.
Space Systems Command (SSC) System Delta 81 (SYD 81) awarded the NITE-STAR Capability Development MA IDIQ to 15 companies. The IDIQ establishes a highly specialized contractor pool to accelerate the development of future technology. It also ensures the USSF can continuously integrate the best available technology from across the innovative ecosystem for years to come.
This initiative will target advancement of the sophisticated systems and technologies required to keep Guardians ahead of the complexities of a contested space domain. NITE-STAR ensures the Space Force remains prepared for high-stakes scenarios.
“This effort sets the foundation for rapidly advancing and integrating the test and training tools needed to effectively train Space Force Guardians,” said Space Force Col. Craig Hackbarth, SSC SYD 81 Operational Test and Tracking Infrastructure (OTTI) system program director. “As a centralized IDIQ, the NITE-STAR Capability Development will be available to the entire OTTI enterprise, accelerating the development of test and training capabilities across the architecture.”
This modern, flexible structure is designed to build a broad and diverse industrial partnership by promoting continuous competition and innovation, allowing the Space Force to rapidly acquire a wide range of solutions to meet evolving test and training demands.
The 15 companies awarded contracts under this IDIQ are Amentum Technology Inc., BAE Systems Inc., CACI, Inc., Firefly Aerospace, L3Harris Technologies, Inc., Lockheed Martin Space, Northrup Grumman System Corporation, Pacific Crest Alliance, Parsons Government Services, Inc., Redwire Space Missions LLC, Rocket Lab USA, Inc., Sierra Space Corporation, the Boeing Company, Viasat, Inc., and York Space Systems.
