Space Systems Command Marks 5th Anniversary; El Segundo Mayor Declares 'SSC Day'
Children participate in a hands-on science activity facilitated by members of the Space Systems Command (SSC) STEM program and volunteers from the Civil Air Patrol as part of SSC’s 5th Anniversary celebration at Los Angeles Air Force Base on Aug. 13, 2026. SSC is the Nation’s premier space acquisition organization responsible for fielding space-based capabilities that protect our Nation’s interests in, from and to space. The command is headquartered at LA AFB with locations throughout the country including space launch operations at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Patrick Space Force Base in Fla. and Vandenberg Space Force Base in Calif.
