Assured Access to Space (AATS) procures launch services and delivers on-orbit capabilities used by joint warfighters, combatant commands, intelligence agencies, civilian services, and the commercial space industry. The AATS workforce manages range sustainment programs in support of the DoD and commercial launch customers.
AATS is leading the nation’s planning for a new Space Mobility mission area to deliver space access, maneuver, and logistics capabilities needed to tackle growth in commercial satellite launch cadence and prepare for new operational concepts for mobility in orbit. This initiative will also transform today’s launch sites into modern spaceports and includes investment in on-orbit servicing and maneuver prototyping with the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Defense Innovation Unit, and other mission partners.
The AATS mission is powered by more than ten thousand Guardians and Airmen—military and civilian, and contractors, stationed at Vandenberg SFB, CA; Patrick SFB, FL; and Kirtland AFB, NM.
